Here you go! The cover for Broken Wings, the second book in the Angel Eyes trilogy. Now, before you go all Dory on me (shiny, shiny!) be sure to scroll down. Giveaway details are below the cover.

I’m not going to share the synopsis just yet cause it’ll ruin Angel Eyes for those still reading. But the cover is gorgeous, right? I can say that because I had zero hand in designing the thing. It’s super different from AE, but goodness, it’s pretty.

In honor of all the shiny, I’m going to give away the audio book of Angel Eyes which is narrated by award winning voice-0ver artist, Cassandra Campbell. To win, leave a comment and tell me this:

Do you believe in angels? Why or why not?

I’ll pick a winner next Wednesday, June 20th.

On Saturday, we celebrated the launch of my debut novel, Angel Eyes, at our local Barnes and Noble.

Except for that two-minute span when I overheated and started yanking at my clothes right there at the signing table, the day was perfect. People I’d never met bought my book and then they asked me to sign it. They wanted me to write in their book! So stinking weird. But you know what the best part of the day was?

    My friends. My family.

They didn’t just show up on Saturday. They SHOWED UP big.

Deep in the recesses of my insecure little heart, I’ve always wanted to be surrounded by friends. And not just the kind of friends who pat you on the back and say good job, but the kind that’ll fight for you. The kind of friends who will do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true. And who will celebrate like it was their dream when it FINALLY happens. Cause that’s the kind of friend I want to be. I want to link arms with my crazy homies. I want to throw on matching bandannas (cause that’s what my pathetic little brain interprets as a sign of unity), and I want to walk around the block showing the peeps how bad our posse is!

On Saturday, my family and friends did that for me. They showed up and watched me sign books. They dragged friends and acquaintances into the store. They paid money for a book many of them have already read. They stood in line to talk to me. Is that crazy? And, of all things, some of the guys even bought MATCHING shirts! Talk about posse!

While the release of my first book is an amazing, amazing thing, the awesomeness of my friends far surpasses any writerly accomplishment and I am so thankful. And teary. And overwhelmed. And dedicated to supporting their dreams just as they’ve supported mine. In big, gigantic, inspiring ways. With bandannas and t-shirts and ridiculous acts of fist pumping.

Everyone should have friends like mine. Cause with friends like mine, bring on the enemies!

In honor of their awesomeness, I’m giving away a copy of Angel Eyes and one of the t-shirts the guys designed and wore to the launch. Don’t worry. They didn’t actually wear this one. It’s an extra, and it’s highly possible no one will appreciate it as much as I do, but that my friends actually ‘like’ me, is an awe-inspiring thing. Click on the pic to see a close up of the shirt. The back of the shirt reads

To enter, all you have to do is let me know what you’re wishing for. Leave me a comment telling me what that big dream of yours is, and on Friday I’ll pick a winner.

OH! And go enter Jill Williamson’s giveaway too! She’s giving away a copy of Angel Eyes AND her novel Replication which I’ve started and am enamored by! Go. Enter. Hurry!

In my brand spankin’ new novel, Angel Eyes, Jake has a tiny obsession with doughnuts. He scratches that itch at a little shop on Main Street called the Donut Factory.

The Donut Factory is actually modeled after a doughnut shop just down the street from my house called Master Donuts. A little place where the a/c is never on and the family that owns it never, ever stops smiling. I take my kids there more often than is strictly healthy, if I’m honest. It’s possible Jake’s obsession was derived from mine which I, through no fault of my own, inherited from my father.

ANHOOOO. Today, while stopping by with my tiniest munchkin, I took a second to chat with the gentlemen (and one lady!) sitting outside the shop. See, they make an appearance in Angel Eyes too. Oh, not them specifically, but a rough sketch I came up with after watching them chat it up in front of Master’s day after day. They’re the liveliest bunch of folks who’ve taken it upon themselves to generate community. I STINKING LOVE THAT! Today, I shared with them their fun role in my story and invited them to my book launch tomorrow. What a cool moment!

WHICH REMINDS ME! Tomorrow peeps! My first book signing is taking place at the Barnes and Noble in Citrus Heights, and I’d love you to join us. Here are the details:

Barnes & Noble, 6111 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA

    Saturday, June 2nd, 1pm – 3pm

Books will be available for purchase / $9.99

I’ll also be doing a fun little giveaway including a copy of the book, an amazing Angel Eyes poster, a B&N giftcard, and some fun items mentioned in the book: an orange tutu, freshly roasted coffee, a box of doughnuts, a gold cuff. Everyone who enters to win, will also be entered to win a NOOK Color to be given away later in June after my second blog tour finishes. Look for more details on Saturday! THAT’S TOMORROW!

    *beams at you all*

Writing a book is an adventure. To begin with, it is a toy and an amusement; then it becomes a mistress, and then it becomes a master, and then a tyrant. The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster, and fling him out to the public.

    –Winston Churchill

Today is the official pub date for Angel Eyes, and for all those who’ve watched me twitch and squirm over the past several weeks, you know it’s time. It’s time to simply fling my story to the public and let them devour the thing. I am so very excited and incredibly overwhelmed by the support Angel Eyes has garnered. That people–those I know and many I don’t–would rally around my dream and help make it come true is an amazing, amazing thing and I am grateful.

Yesterday, the Angel Eyes blog tour kicked off. It’s being hosted by the lovely crew over at YA Bound and they are just another group I am insanely grateful for. They’ve made it possible for tons of young adult readers to get an early copy of my story for review purposes. Here’s the updated schedule. See those little stars next to several of the links? That means those bloggers are giving away a copy of the book. As you’ll notice, there are tons of opportunities to win and to support these bloggers who do their best to spread the word. I thank them as well as the many others who’ve gathered around and been such a blessing.

    God bless all. I do hope you enjoy Brielle’s journey.  : May 28 – Review* :  May 28 – Playlist : May 28 – Review  :  May 28 – Review* : May 28 – Review* :  May 28 – Review* : May 29 – Review :  May 29 –Spotlight : May 29 – Review : May 29 – Review* : May 29 – Review : May 29 – Review : May 29 – Review :  May 30 – Writing Cave : May 30 – Author Guest Post :  May 30 –Spotlight : May 31 – Review* :  May 31 – Review* :  May 31– Review :  May 31 – Review : May 31 – Review* : May 31 – Quote Battle :  May 31 – Review : June 1 – Excerpt One :  June 1– Review : June 1 – Review : June 1 – Review : June 1 – Review : June 1 – Review : June 2 – Review : June 2 – Review : June 2 – Review*  :  June 2– Review* :  June 2 – Review : June 4 – Review* : June 4 – Review* : June 4 – Review : June 4 – Review :  June 5 – Review* :  June 5 – Review : June 5 – Review* : June 5th – Review* : June 6 – Review* : June 6 – Review : June 7 – Review :  June 7 – Review :  June 8 – Excerpt Two* : June 9 – Excerpt Three* :  June 9 – Character Tweets

Most of my time at the bookstore is spent in the kids section. Which, I love, by the way. I supervise my munchkin (who has a tendency to swipe Thomas trains from unsuspecting toddlers) while flipping through a book or two I snagged on my way to the back of the store.

It’s an awesome way to spend a half hour. Really. But when I want to trawl the aisles of other sections–when I’m looking for a new book–I have a little game I play with the kids to keep them busy.

“Find me a book with a key on the cover,” I tell them. “Now, find one with a blue troll.”

Works like a charm and guarantees me at least three minutes of uninterrupted book shopping. So, yesterday, when I loaded the kids and the husband into the car, I gave Justus and Jaz a mission.

    “Find Brielle,” I told them.

See, my kids are very familiar with Brielle. They know she and her friends take up an awful lot of my time and energy. They think she’s pretty and they love running their fingers over the shiny ring she’s holding on the cover. And because my kids are geniuses, it didn’t take long for them to locate Brielle on the YA bookshelf at our favorite Barnes and Noble.

Jaz jumped and squealed, “I found Brielle!”

    Justus stopped for a pic.

It was awesome. I’d love to see pics of YOU with Angel Eyes. If you spot Brielle out there in the wild, snap a shot and post it on FB. Don’t forget to tag me in the pic and I’ll share it on my page too.

It’s crazy, guys! Angel Eyes has landed on the book shelf at my local B&N.

    Talk about dream come true.

    Book Release Celebration

Barnes & Noble, 6111 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA

    Saturday, June 2nd, 1pm – 3pm

Books will be available for purchase

    – $9.99 –

We are so close now! Angel Eyes is making it’s way to stores as we speak. Our local Barnes and Noble is graciously hosting my very first book signing and I wanted to make sure you got an invite.

I’m rather giddy about the whole thing because I did a bunch of my writing at the Birdcage B&N. So fun to be able to launch Angel Eyes from a store I visit multiple times a week.

It’s one of those dream-come-true kind of moments and I’d love to share it with you. I also have a rather fantastic giveaway planned for the event, so stay tuned for more details on that.

If you could do me a favor and RSVP via Facebook,  that would help tons. We want to make sure there are enough books to go around (what a mind-bending sentence that is).

    God bless and happy reading!
