Shannon Dittemore

Do yourself a favor and be productive.

Every morning.

Yes, EVERY morning. Get yourself up, sit down with God and a cup of Joe, and then do something you’d rather not do. Pay a bill, exercise, make a grocery list, clean something for crying out loud. But, whatever it is, do it well and get the sucker done.

Know why?

Cause productivity is contagious. Oh, yes! Contagious. That little task may be infinitesimal in the grand scheme of things. But soon, you’ll start feeling better about yourself and about what you can accomplish. You’ll remember that you really are more than just a jumble of sweatpants and baby slobber. You’ll remember that productivity is a part of your heavenly heritage–that your God spoke to the chaos and created life. That you are part of a people who do things well and in order.

So, you’re saying that if I get out of this computer chair and scrub the kitchen floor I’ll be doing my part? I’ll be changing the world?

No, not really. I didn’t say that. But your kitchen floor should remind you that you’ve got things to do on this planet. Bigger things than cleaning and bills. More important things than playing taxi cab and grocery shopping. I wouldn’t be surprised if your teeny tiny morning accomplishment motivates you to take on something bigger. Something of significance. Something that really would change the world.

So, get up!

Remember who you were created to be.

Life is short. Do something!

Yeah, I totally stole that line from the ONE LIFE REVOLUTION… I don’t think they’ll mind.

I love this post Shan! I had been sick for a few weeks. I had been going to bed at 6:30 and doing pretty much nothing. I think it was Monday when I had been feeling better for a few days that I got a bug to change the sheets on my bed which led to dishes that needed to be done after that rush and finally I felt that I was in the land of the living! Sometimes my life can be like that. I forget that I was put on this Earth for a purpose…to do and to be!

I’ve found myself so incredibly busy this past season of my life. When I think about the list of things on my plate sometimes I think I’m crazy – – work full time, school full time, church full time, training clients on the side, blah blah blah. The amazing part is once I put my mind to making all this work, it has been perfectly fine. Like you said Shan, productivity is contagious. I once thought my schedule would be impossible but if I’m deligent every day things get done and it feels good!
